A Youth Corper by the name Stephen Teru under the National Youth Service Corps made an outstanding impact to the school of his primary assignment in the Akampka local government in Cross River state. Seeing a deficiency in the school’s facilities where he was posted to, Stephen took it upon himself to construct chairs and desks to enable proper ergonomics of the student as they learn.
Over the years, countless local schools across Nigeria have been pictured to lack basic facilities. Photos usually surface online of pupils sitting on stones and writing on their laps in classrooms with broken ceilings. Situations as these give concerns to why the federal government is yet to give a due focus to education in the country even in its budget allocation.
The likes of Stephen Teru are taking it upon themselves to make for a more comfortable learning environment for the school goers in rural communities and to this agent of development, we say well done!
