It was the morning of another working day and Mrs Obiagheli had set out for duty. The seventh day in February would however turn out to be a special day of recognition for the teacher of over 30 years of active service.
Borno state governor, Babagana Zulum visited Shehu Sanda Kyarimi 2 primary school at around 6:30 am where he met Mrs Mazi in the school premises. Impressed by her dedication after a brief dialogue, the governor rewarded her with a cash sum of 100,000 naira and recommended her for promotion, an order which was effectively carried out by the State Universal Education Board (SUBEB) and saw Mrs Obiagheli Mazi move from classroom teacher to assistant headmistress the following week.
Further findings revealed that the recognized woman hails from Abia state and has lived in the Northern state which has been terrorized by members of the Boko Haram for long years. She has however remained in the insurgent state rendering her teaching service to the children as she believes their education is very important.
Well meaning Nigerians have mobilized and raised funds up to one 1,000,000 naira to reward her loyalty. The sum was said to have been delivered by the special adviser (media) to Zulum, Dogo Shettimi when he paid a courtesy visit to the now celebrated patriotic Nigerian.
Many have related this inspirational outcome to stories of God’s remembrance and some have found it to be a confirmation of the holy bible: Proverbs 22:29, “Seest thou a man diligent in his business? He shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men.”
