Flipsyde studios moved its action sci-fi film Ratnik from last year November when it met a financial difficulty but an official announcement via the film’s director Dimeji Ajibola confirms that the highly innovative production will be released in theatres by April 2020.
The film which stars our Q4 2019 cover star Osas Ighodaro captures an apocalyptic era where surviving in a torn-down world becomes a daily hustle. The film has already won two awards (to include ‘Best Art Director’ and ‘Best Costume Designer’) at the recently concluded AMVCA.
Meanwhile, the ongoing global pandemic caused by the trending deadly Corona virus has resulted to a major hold in the international entertainment scene. A few of the biggest box office films as Mulan and No Time To Die have had either their premiere or release pushed back to a later date. Flipsyde studios is however going forward with Ratnik premiere amidst bans of social gathering of over 50 persons – an order passed across by the government worldwide to help curb the spread of Corona virus.
Ratnik is one of the Nollywood’s few attempts at action sci-fi, so it is anticipatory to see if the industry have made much improvements to score in such an unlikely genre.
